Bayern Munich have signed Senegal’s forward Sadio Mane from Liverpool on a three-year contract for $43 million. The club confirmed the much-anticipated signing in a statement on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old attacker has agreed a contract with the German record champions until June 30, 2025. The forward became Bayern’s third signing of this season, following the arrivals of Ajax Amsterdam duo Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazrouai.

Mane hinted at his desire to leave Liverpool after their Champions League final loss to Real Madrid last month, at the end of a season in which he scored 23 goals.

Mane has been at the heart of the Reds’ success and has shown tremendous levels of versatility having started on the right-wing before moving to the left, and then to a central role. His pace, power, trickery and smile lit up Anfield from the off and he quickly became a fan favorite who has lifted every trophy on offer for Liverpool in his six years at the club.

Sadio just completed what was arguably the best season of his career, converting the clinching penalty in a shootout to win the African Cup of Nations for Senegal, helping his country qualify for the World Cup, and starring for Liverpool in a campaign where the club nearly achieved an unprecedented quadruple of major trophies.
