Nigerian musical sensation, Tems has scooped her very first BET award for the Best International Act category.

Tems was up against various artistes from different countries around the globe including her fellow country mate, Fireboy DML.

Tems has made history as she is now the very first female artiste to win the Best International Act BET award.

The 27-year-old accepted the award and expressed her gratitude. She also encouraged women from across the world and challenged them to go after their dreams.

“I just want to use this opportunity to speak to every young, old, whatever. Every single woman watching this. Every single girl, watching this at home, where I’m from things like this don’t happen,” she said.

“Where I’m from Lagos, Nigeria this is a dream. As you’re watching this, I want you to imagine yourself as me cause you are meant to be here too.”

Tems’ popularity spread after she featured on Wizkid’s track, ‘Essence’ which was a hit around the world. She has since featured in songs with Future and Drake.
