On Sunday at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, the men’s 4×400 relay team from Trinidad and Tobago won the nation’s third gold medal. Jereem Richards ran the anchor leg as TT won in a time of three minutes, 1.29 seconds. The 28-year-old sprinter is the only Trinidad and Tobago athlete to successfully defend his title at the Commonwealth Games

Botswana were second in 3:01.85 and Kenya finished third in 3:02.41. With the win, TT’s total number of medals at the Games which will formally end today now stands at three gold, two silver, and one bronze.

The Trinidad and Tobago team’s third gold medal makes it the first time since 1966 that the nation has taken home three or more gold medals from the Commonwealth Games.
