Wayne Rooney has embarked on a new managerial journey in Major League Soccer. He has become a new head coach of the DC United team based in Washington, where he spent two seasons as a player. Rooney was a captain of the DC United team during the 2018 and 2019 football seasons.
The American club is the first team the 36-year-old has taken over since leaving Derby last month, which ended a turbulent 17-month spell during which the English club was marred by financial trouble and relegated to the third tier last season.
Rooney did his best throughout his time with the Rams but in the end, it was not enough, and he now faces a new challenge at the bottom of the MLS.
Just this weekend, D.C. United suffered a heavy loss 7-0 against Philadelphia Union and are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference table with 10 lost games.
The poor results have been constant so far this season. For such reasons, with a couple of victories, DC United could improve their path and maybe Wayne Rooney can give them that boost the need.
