Ekeomah Atuonwu
The president of Senegal, Macky Sall, has been elected as the new Chairperson of the African Union (AU).
The event occurred at the just concluded thirty-fifth (35th) Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Union at its Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Macky Sall takes over from H.E. Felix- Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who has concluded his one-year tenure as the Chairperson of the African Union.
In his speech, the newly appointed Chairperson presented peace as the goal of his one-year term.
