According to the Health Ministry, one additional health worker in Uganda has passed away from the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) as the nation fights to stop the virus’s spread. Anaesthetic officer Margaret Nabisubi passed away on Wednesday, according to Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng.

Dr. Aceng sent a tweet saying, “The 58-year-old succumbed to Ebola at 4.33am today morning at Fort Portal Hospital (JMedic) after battling the disease for 17 days.

“After the likely cases of the midwife, Dr. Mohammed Ali, and the health assistant in Kagadi District, the late Margaret is the fourth healthcare worker we have lost in the ongoing Ebola outbreak,” according to Dr. Aceng.

The health worker passed away a week after President Yoweri Museveni stated the sickness is simple to contain. Since the epidemic was declared last month, there have been 43 confirmed cases, and as of Tuesday, there have also been nine fatalities.

According to the World Health Organization, the disease’s case-fatality rate ranges from 25% to 90%. This is greater than Covid-19, which has a case-fatality rate of about 3%. The Health Ministry says that, EVD can be spread through coming into contact with an infected person’s blood, faeces, or bodily fluids, as well as by touching contaminated things.

Infected animals like fruit bats and other wild animals can potentially transmit the illness to humans. Fever, exhaustion, chest discomfort, diarrhea, vomiting, yellowing of the eyes, and unexplained bleeding are some of the recognized Ebola symptoms.

According to the Health Ministry, bleeding typically shows up following the aforementioned symptoms.
