Bolt, Ghana’s leading Mobility Company, is joining the rest of the country in planting trees on Green Ghana Day as part of its efforts to ensure a more sustainable world.

Green Ghana Day was commemorated on June 10, 2022, under the auspices of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, with the goal of planting 20 million trees across the country.

Bolt employees across the country will plant 300 trees in open areas across the country to help preserve the environment and reverse the negative effects of climate change.

The Forestry Commission has nurtured these seedlings, which include fruit and ornamental trees, in preparation for the day.

Announcing their participation, David Kotei Nikoi, Bolt Ghana’s Country Manager, emphasized that “Bolt, as a good corporate citizen, is working with various stakeholders to help achieve the country’s sustainability, by aligning our goals with governments efforts for a greener Ghana.”

Every year on Green Ghana Day, millions of trees are planted to increase the country’s green cover in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

“Protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems,” says SDG 15, “as well as sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and biodiversity loss.”

As of the six-month mark in 2021, 85 percent of the trees planted had survived. The decision to increase the number of seedlings planted this year was based on this success.
