A vast fire has claimed at least 33 lives in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) after a fuel truck and a passenger service bus collided.

Local police have said the incident happened 80 kilometers away from the county’s capital, Kinshasa this past weekend.

Police Captain in that area, Antoine Pululu said the victims were burnt beyond recognition on Saturday and buried yesterday.

This is the latest of various accidents in the DRC, because of poor infrastructure and poorly maintained vehicles on the road.

In 2018, a similar fate killed about 53 people and in 2010 over 200 people were burnt to death triggered by an accident.
