LONDON- Football in Crystal Palace Park, swimming with the grandchildren, going to a concert. These are just some of the things that trainer and bus driver, Claude Parchment, looks forward to now that he’s been triple vaccinated.

Claude kept London moving during the pandemic by driving buses out of the Stockwell garage. Also, he trains new drivers on how to deal with the iconic red buses on southeast London routes and also teaches them the importance of customer service.

Claude experienced a period of worry during the pandemic until vaccines brought reassurance.

“At the beginning we were nervous, you might have people not wearing masks, or if anyone coughed…Then you’d be worried, am I bringing something into the home? “

“But when the vaccine was announced, we bus drivers were very pleased because we knew it would protect us out there, meeting the public.”

After doing my research, Claude said, “I decided the vaccine was right for me.”

“With two vaccines and a booster, I feel protected. If there is another booster, I’ll be the first in line. This reassures me that I’ve got an extra layer of protection. In the supermarket, I feel less stressed if I don’t see people wearing masks,” he said.

The process was so simple. I made the booking online, went to the center, waited in line, and got it done. As a precaution, I also took two paracetamols. Nothing to worry about… the NHS has done a great job of making it so accessible. In a pharmacy, you can get it done without an appointment.”

Claude’s vaccination has also improved his quality of life in other ways: “Last year, I got to visit my family in Jamaica, which was great.”

“I also went to the James Bond film, which was my first cinema experience since the pandemic began.” That nice getaway from the small screen was because of the vaccine.
