A father is wanted in Nigeria on charges of assaulting his two-month-old child and breaking one of his arms.

According to reports, the 31-year-old man hit his infant with a plastic cloth hanger for waking him.

According to his wife, who spoke to journalists, the man stole her phone, confined her and the baby in a room, and threatened to alert the neighbors if she revealed his whereabouts.

After two days, she managed to flee and brought her infant to the hospital, where the arm was removed.

According to the baby’s doctor, Dr. Chiedozie Mbalewe, the amputation was necessary to save the child’s life.

The mother has reported the crime to the police, and the suspect is on the run.

Justice has been demanded by a group of female journalists and the National Human Rights Commission.

According to UNICEF, there were 5% more incidents of child abuse in Nigeria between 2016 and 2021.

According to the most recent survey by Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Cross River and Imo states had the greatest numbers of cases.

Despite limited implementation, the nation’s laws are designed to protect children from all forms of abuse, including physical, mental, and emotional harm.
