A Kenyan man that confessed to killing way over 10 children in the country has escaped from police cells in Nairobi, the capital.

Masten Wanjala was set to appear in court on Wednesday following his hand in the murder of at least 14 boys in the capital, and areas surrounding eastern and western Kenya.

According to police, they realised the suspect had disappeared during the morning roll call.

He was in police custody to allow a probe into a chain of child killings that shocked the nation.

The self-confessed ‘vampire’ killer was detained for 30 days as police investigated more than eight child killings.

Police said they had so far linked him to up to 14 murder incidents spanning from Nairobi among other regions.

Some three police officers who were on duty at the time of his escape from the Jogoo Road police station, in the Eastlands area of Nairobi, have been detained as investigations on his disappearance are underway.

Already, local authorities have started a hunt for man they have blatantly referred to as extremely dangerous

Mr Wanjala was arrested in July this year and he confessed to drugging and killing the young boys, as well as drinking their blood in some cases.
