In an effort to stop the spread of the Ebola virus disease(EVD), health officials and local leaders have barred attendance at funerals and weddings and shut down entertainment venues in Mubende District.
As of Thursday, seven Ebola cases have been verified in the nation thus far, including one fatality (a 24-year-old who passed away on Tuesday). Uganda said that it has found six additional Ebola cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to seven.
According to Emmanuel Ainebyoona, a spokesman for the Health Ministry, the death of a kid in the region has been associated with possible Ebola.
The district Ebola taskforce in Mubende implemented limits on visiting government buildings as part of its standard operating procedures (SOPs) to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Allowing gatherings to go on would put people’s lives in danger, according to Mubende Resident District Commissioner Ms. Rosemary Byabashaija, who also serves as the director of the Ebola taskforce in Mubende. The virus spreads quickly via personal contact.
Since Ebola spreads through bodily contact and is more likely to do so in crowded areas, she explained, “we have come to a decision to suspend entertainment places, congested places, limit number of people attending weddings and introductions.”
Authorities are tracking anyone who may have come into contact with Ebola patients.
