Despite Kenya not participating at the 2022 Africa Cup of nations the country is represented by two officials.
Peter Waweru Kamaku and Gilbert Cheruiyot are the Kenyans on duty at the tournament as match referee and assistant referee respectively.
The tournament will also see in action female match officials; Swalim Mukansanga from Rwanda as referee, BouchraKarboubi from Morocco on the Video Assistant Referee panel, Cameroonian Carine Atemzabong and Fatiha Jermoumi from Morocco as assistant referees.
The tournament’s officially started with the opening ceremony held at Olembe stadium which was graced by FIFA president Gianni Infantino and Cameroon President Paul Biya.
Hosts Cameroon prevailed with a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso in the tournament’s first game with Cape Verde registering a win over Ethiopia in their group a clash.
Today’s fixture will be pitting Senegal against Zimbabwe, Guinea against Malawi, Morocco against Ghana and Comoros against Gabon.
