The Burundian 🇧🇮 government confirmed the deployment of 10 disaster management officials to Turkey as part of the efforts to save lives following a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey 🇹🇷 and Syria 🇸🇾.
Burundi’s Foreign Affairs Minister Albert Shingiro tweeted saying that the decision comes considering the quality of our relationship and collaboration with Turkey, as well as the devastating earthquake that rocked it.

Gitega selected the team that will assist in rescue efforts in Turkey for at least one week in a letter from Burundi’s Secretary-General, Prosper Ntahorwamiye.
“Financing of the mission is provided by the Government of Burundi from the Disaster Prevention and Management Fund which is under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Public Security,” according to the letter.
