After successfully satisfying the standards to apply to the International Olympic Committee, Egypt might become the first African and Arab country to host the Summer Olympic Games in 2036.

Egypt’s efforts to become a global athletic event destination come in the wake of recent building and infrastructure improvements, most notably Egypt’s new state-of-the-art Sports City in the New Capital.

In addition, the country aims to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Saudi Arabia and Greece. Over the previous few years, the country has hosted a number of international sporting events, including the 2019 African Cup of Nations and the World Handball Championship.

Paris will host the upcoming Olympic Games in 2024, Los Angeles in 2028 and Australia’s Brisbane in 2032.
