The Ethiopian government agreed on Thursday to the African Union’s offer to take part in peace negotiations to be held on October 24 in South Africa to put an end to the conflict that has resulted in millions of people being displaced and undefined numbers of deaths.

It happened on the same day that rebels in Tigray accused Ethiopian and Eritrean soldiers of murdering seven young people in a town that the federal army had just taken control of on Tuesday.
