ST. KITTS AND NEVIS- Dr. Cameron Wilkinson, Director of the JN France General Hospital, has confirmed St Kitts is affected by the Fourth Wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a Facebook post, Wilkinson said, “The fourth wave is here, and the numbers are rising again, but residents should not be surprised as we have already warned.”

Further, he predicted that the number of Coronavirus cases would continue to rise over the next few weeks. Due to a fourth wave, it is inevitable that more casualties will occur.

In addition to urging the general public to get vaccinated, Dr. Wilkinson stated that vaccination clinics are always open.

“Come out of your home and get vaccinated as it offers the best protection against the deadliest virus. Getting fully immunized will protect you as well as those around you.”

While suggesting the benefits of good health, he said, “The good public health will benefit our surroundings, and we should make good efforts to maintain it”.

According to him, people who have taken their required shot and are fully inoculated can also test positive; however, they are at a lower risk than those who have only taken a portion of their vaccination.

Furthermore, Dr. Wilkinson stressed that vaccinations are the best protection against severe disease, hospitalization, and death.

“Be aware as we are not helpless and don’t hesitate. Go out and get fully vaccinated,” Wilkinson said.

As a result of the vaccination data, he claimed that over 81 percent of adults are vaccinated in St Kitts and Nevis. His recommendation was for parents to vaccinate their children who are older than 12 with the Pfizer vaccine.

He said,” A vaccine is significant to combat the deadly virus that has killed over 5.41 million so far in just two years”.

Dr. Wilkinson also declared that if vaccines are not provided, the nation’s death rate would rise. To combat the infection, wear a mask and follow the necessary protocols.”
