According to the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet), residents in Greater Accra, the Central and Western Regions should brace themselves for more rain tonight. Among the towns highlighted by the Agency were Cape Coast, Accra, Akyem Oda, Ho, and Takoradi.
The rain will be accompanied by thunderstorms, according to the forecast, and as a result, it advised residents in the affected areas to exercise caution.
The rains will affect Aflao, Bolgatanga, Nalerigu, and Wa, according to the Agency. GMet has forecasted more heavy rains in the Greater Accra Region. The Agency explained that this is due to the approaching rainy season.
Accra has already experienced two flooding incidents in the last four days. Parts of Accra and other urban centres in the Greater Accra Region, including North Kaneshie, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, and Kasoa in the Central Region, were flooded after hours of rain.
Following this, there was a traffic snarl up on several major roads in the capital. Ghanaians took to Twitter on Saturday and Monday to share videos of flooded areas.
The Ghana Police Service, in a bid to help prevent further chaos, issued a public safety warning to the public to avoid areas such as the Graphic Road towards Kaneshie and Agbogbloshie due to the high level of the Odaw River.
Motorists and commuters are also being cautioned against using the Graphic Road towards Kaneshie and Agbogbloshie due to the rising level of the Odaw River, it stated.
