Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been told by Africa Cup of Nations rival that he’s not at same level as Paris Saint Germaine striker Kylian Mbappe. Salah has helped Egypt progress to the semifinals of the competition, where they are due to face host Cameroon on Thursday night.

Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar who is currently the top scorer at this year’s AFCON after racking up six goals, has claimed he is not impressed by Salah.

“I see it as before,” Aboubakar said.

He is having a great season in the premier league, he is helping his country to advance in the competition. I wish him a lot of luck. May the best win. He doesn’t impress me much. I say it clearly because am a honest person and I have my way of seeing things.

Adding, “ If he impressed me, I would say so. But he doesn’t impress me much. He’s a good player, he scores a lot of goals but he doesn’t produce a lot of stuff in the game. He is a good player but not at the level of some like Mbappe.”

Aboubakar’s stance comes despite the fact that Salah has scored 23 goals and provided nine assists in 26 games for Liverpool this season. These words could give the player even more motivation to come up with the goods for Egypt on Thursday night.

Aboubakar could be playing mind games with Salah but they may soon haunt him. If Egypt progresses to the finals, Salah will find himself coming up against his teammate Sadio Mane.
