Fans who are fully vaccinated against COVID 19 and with proof of negative tests before a game will be the only ones allowed to attend Africa cup of nations in Cameroon.
A joint statement from Confederation of African Football (Caf) and Cameroon’s government and football association (Fecafoot) has confirmed the tournament to be going ahead between January 9 and February 6, 2022.
“The government has devised an elaborate special sanitary anti-Covid protocol for the Nations Cup,” the statement read.
“Supporters can only access stadiums for Nations Cup matches if they are fully vaccinated and present a negative PCR test within 72 hours or a negative lateral flow test within 24 hours.”
The development comes in the wake of threats from Europe’s top clubs not to release players for the upcoming tournaments over fears surrounding its Covid-19 health protocol.
40 premier league players could be called up for the tournament, featuring major premier league stars like Egypt’s Mohammed Salah, Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez who are the defending champions and Senegal’s Sadio Mane.
