POPULATION IN TANZANIA GROWS BY APPROXIMATELY 40%, CENSUS SHOWS

The findings of the national census, which were released on Monday, show that Tanzania’s population increased from 44.9 million in 2012 to more than 60 million in a ten-year period.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan spoke about the issues presented by the population growth as it increased by over 37%.

President Samia as stated that, “Such population might not be a major concern for a massive nation like ours but it’s a strain when it comes to allocating resources and offering social services.”

The findings of the census show that women make up 51% of the general population. Dodoma, the nation’s capital, saw an increase in population of one million people to 3.1 million, but Dar es Salaam, the country’s commercial center, continued to have the highest population at over 5.4 million people.
