Barely three months after the death of her predecessor, Tanzania’s new president Samia Suluhu has admitted that the Corona virus is circulating and urged people to take necessary precautions.
Last year, the late President John Magufuli declared the country Corona virus free and did not encourage the use of face masks nor did the country acquire vaccines.
The political transition has allowed doctors to work more freely, diagnose patients and treat them without fear of authorities.
The African Union has confirmed the country’s participation in its vaccine-purchasing programme and is applying to join COVAX.
