On Wednesday, an Ugandan high court handed down a 105-year prison sentence to a man convicted of murdering his four girlfriends and a baby in Nakulabye, Rubaga Division, Kampala.

The 25-year-old former street child, Musa Musasizi, admitted guilt to the charges before Trial Judge Margaret Mutonyi convicted him.

The jobless resident of Mujomba zone 6 in Nakulabye, Musa Musasizi was apprehended on March 14, 2021, in connection with the deaths of five women and a three-month-old baby in the locality.

Initially brought before a local Magistrate’s Court, he faced six counts of murder and was subsequently held in custody at Kitalya prison.

On March 14, 2021, prosecutors informed the court that Musa Musasizi had intentionally killed Noreen Nabirye with premeditation.

Additionally, Musa Musasizi is accused of murdering Violet Kansiime and Abigail Nakitende on March 12, as well as Elizabeth Mutesi on March 15, 2021.

In a separate case, Musasizi was jointly charged with 23-year-old ‘boda boda’ rider Abdul Kasaija, also a resident in Rubaga Division, with the murder of Mackline Ahereza on February 22, 2021.

Kasaija was further charged for being an accessory to murder on allegations that he helped Musaizi to dump the body of Ahereza on February 22, 2021 in an effort to help him escape punishment.

According to a court hearing, Musasizi would court the victims, have intercourse with them, before killing them by either hitting on their heads with a blunt object or strangling.

Subsequently, he allegedly disposed off their bodies in locations near each other in Nakulabye, setting them ablaze.

According to the police, Musa Musasizi reportedly confessed to murdering the mentioned women. He explained that he killed Ahereza because he suspected her of having another boyfriend.

He further revealed that he strangled Kansiime to death, then went and dumped her body. And when he returned to his home, he strangled her three-month-old baby.

He admitted to strangling Mutesi, a Makerere resident, stating that they had a disagreement when she rejected the Ush50,000 ($13.21) he offered as transport, claiming it was less than expected after their intimate encounter.

The police reported recovering clothes belonging to Musasizi’s victims from a latrine belonging to his neighbor.

The High Court in Kampala presided over by Justice Margaret Mutonyi, has determined that the long prison term is necessary to protect young women, including his six-year-old daughter.
