A trending video in which an unnamed cleric is seen kissing three young women on the pulpit has caused an uproar among social media users.
In the video, the young women in a training college are seen pulling down their face masks then the cleric kisses them, sparking cheers in the congregation.
“I’m so disgusted and grossed out. How is this happening in educational institutions?” one social media user tweeted.
Another wrote: “Reverend Father kisses three students in front of the whole school. This Anglican priest should be arrested. Shame.”
Following this, the Anglican Church in Ghana has launched investigations on the issue and the priest has already been relieved of his duties.
It is alleged that the cleric is one of the priests at St. Monica’s Anglican teachers’ training college.
The church added that counseling will be offered to the young women “to avert any psychological issues that may arise,” according to George Dawson-Ahmoah of the Anglican Diocese of Koforidua.
In a statement, the church confirmed that the priest in question will be “dealt with in accordance with the norms and values of the Anglican Communion where morality is extremely revered”.
