English premier league side Everton on Monday appointed Frank Lampard as their new head coach.
The 43 year old has signed a two and a half-year contract with Everton. Lampard takes over from former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, who was shown the door just six months into the role.
He has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in January 2021 with the club ranked 9th in the premier league.
Lampard started his coaching career with Derby County in 2018, before taking over as head coach at former club Chelsea.
In his first match at the helm, Everton will face Brentford for the FA cup fourth-round tie at Goodson Park on Saturday.
“The appointment of Lampard comes after a robust recruitment process with several candidates being interviewed by the club’s majority shareholder ad Board of directors.” Everton said in a statement.
