HUMAN REPRODUCTION
IN VITRO GAMETOGENESIS, also known as IVG is not the traditional IVF – IN VITRO FERTILIZATION. It will no longer be necessary to reproduce via traditional eggs from females and sperms from males.
The breakthrough of IVG – allows genestists to create reproductive cells from any cells in the body. Cells can be harvested from a hair follicles or the skin, or muscle cells or any other cells to make cells to reproduce babies.
Currently, cell that turn into muscles or blood cells are not able to change to other different cells. But with IVG, stem cell can.
Stem cells are the body’s raw materials — cells from which all other cells with specialized functions are generated – Mayo clinic.
So, stem cells are the seeds of regular specialized cells that are developed by RNA instruction to any cells such as – blood cells, reproductive cells such as eggs or sperm, brain cells, muscle cells, nerve cells, etc., etc.
IVG renders the women biological clock irrelevant. The technology of IVG – turns any cell to a stem cell which in turn can be made to a sperm or an egg cell.
ETHICAL ISSUES AND POSSIBILITIES
• Infertile parents now can have their own biological children.
• Same sex couples (LGBTQI) can have ‘their’ own children, genetically linked as another other heterosexual couples.
• Designer babies – ability to choose ‘superior’ genetic trails depending on existing laws of a particular country or region.
• Possible mass production of babies in regions experiencing depopulation. Countries in Europe such as Italy, Greece, or Poland where less children are born than those dying. This might be a preferred option for right-wing or nativists enclaves that reject migrants.
There’s more to come as science advances and the possibilities continue to be boundless.
