The Golden Globes nominees list was released on Monday and Riri celebrated her new achievement by reposting a tweet from Variety with the caption ‘God be showing out’.

The Bad Gal is running up against Taylor Swift’s “Carolina” from the film Where The Crawdads Sing and Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” off the movie soundtrack for Top Gun: Maverick, among others.

‘Lift Me Up’, is Rihanna’s first solo single since 2016 when she released her album ‘Anti’. The song was co-written by Nigeria’s Tems as well as Ryan Coogler and Ludwig Goranson.

“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them,” said Tems.

Fans are hopeful that the Golden Globe nomination will serve as a motivation for Riri to fully return to music as she is also set to perform at the 2023 Superbowl Halftime show.
