Zenit St Petersburg denied Chelsea the top spot in Champions league group H after Magomed Ozdoev’s 94th-minute equalizeron Wednesday.
Chelsea are now second with 13 points from 6 games, two points behind Juventus who now occupy the top spot after a 1-0 home triumph over Sweden’s Malmo.
Both team proceed to the last 16 stage while third placed Zenitwill go to the second tier Europa League after the winter break.
GROUP E: Five times Europeans Champions Barcelona bowed out of the Champions League after a 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich. This is the first time Barcelona fail to make it past the group stages of the competition since the 2000 – 01 season.
The game was played in snowy conditions with no fans due to a spike in COVID – 19 cases in Germany.
Barcelona are now third in the group and are faced with a Europa league knock-out round play-off. Benfica’s 2-0 triumph over Dynamo Kyiv secured them the second slot in the group with Bayern Munich at the top.
GROUP F: Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Switzerland’s Young Boys at Old Trafford. This draw secured their position as group leaders and a slot in the last 16 with Young Boys finishing bottom of the group thus being eliminated.
The Champions League last-16 draw takes place in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday, December 13. The first legs of the last 16 ties will take place on February 15-16 and February 22-23, with the second legs taking place on March 8-9 and March 15-16.
