Manchester United will take a 3-0 lead into the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest next week, having already put one foot in the Wembley final next month.
Marcus Rashford’s wondergoal after an incredible run from his own half gave United the perfect start after just six minutes. Rashford remains unstoppable for the Red Devils having scored in all but one of his 10 games since returning to domestic action following the World Cup.
Though Forest created several promising chances, United doubled their lead just before halftime when Wout Weghorst scored his first goal for the club with Bruno Fernandes adding a third late on.
Man United, who are chasing their first trophy since the Europa League in 2017, will welcome Forest to Old Trafford for the second leg next Wednesday, with the winner advancing to the final to take on either Newcastle United or Southampton
