Patrick Vieira has called for more chances for black players in coaching and at the executive level in football. A recent study has shown that 43% of Premier League and 34% of English Football League players are black. Despite this, only 4% of head coaches in these leagues are black.
According to a survey released last week by The Black Footballers Partnership, only 1.6% of executive, leadership, and ownership positions in English football are held by black individuals.

Not only are former black players not regularly receiving head coaching jobs, but these disproportionate figures also include roles in scouting and junior coaching as well.
A diversity rule was previously introduced by the Football Association in 2020 to help combat racial inequalities in the sport. All Premier League teams have consented to submit annual data on every employee as part of the strategy. Vieira, however, believes there is more potential.
